Getting to Rassada Pier

  • From Phuket Airport: about 35 km, 45–60 minutes by taxi or pre-booked transfer (~650–800 THB). For step-by-step terminal pickup points, bus options and taxi scam warnings, read the Phuket Airport (HKT) to Rassada Pier guide on From-Airport.com.
  • From Patong: about 30–40 minutes. Many ferry tickets include a shared minivan pick-up.
  • From Kata, Karon or Rawai: allow 45–60 minutes in traffic.

On the boat

The large ferries have an air-conditioned lower deck, an open sun deck and simple snacks. The crossing passes the limestone islets of Phang Nga Bay to the north, and you approach Phi Phi Don with the cliffs of Phi Phi Leh on your left. Some ferries and speedboats can drop passengers at Laem Tong in the north; ask your resort.

Phuket day trips vs the ferry

Many tour boats from Phuket visit Phi Phi Leh, Maya Bay and Bamboo Island as a day trip and stop only briefly at Tonsai. If you plan to stay, take a regular ferry instead; tour boats rarely carry luggage. Read Day trip or overnight? before you decide.
