Mosquito Island

About two kilometres west of Bamboo Island, Mosquito Island (Koh Yung) is steep, green and rocky. Most people see it from the water, on a snorkel stop over its colourful fringing reef.

What to expect

Mosquito Island is mostly forested hillside with a small beach. Landing is sometimes restricted by the park to protect the beach and reef, so boats often stop just offshore for snorkelling instead. Despite the name, mosquitoes are not usually a problem on the water.

Snorkelling

The reef along the island's shore has hard and soft corals, giant clams and plenty of reef fish. Currents can be noticeable here; stay close to your boat and follow the crew's instructions. See Snorkelling.
