The Phi Phi Islands
The archipelago consists of six islands. One is home to a village; the others are steep limestone towers rising straight from the sea, protected as part of a national park.

How the islands fit together
Phi Phi Don is the large island in the middle, shaped like a butterfly: two hilly halves joined by a low sandy isthmus. That is where Tonsai village, the pier and almost all accommodation are. About 2 km south lies Phi Phi Leh, a ring of cliffs around Maya Bay and Pileh Lagoon. North of Phi Phi Don are the flat, sandy Bamboo Island (Koh Mai Phai) and rocky Mosquito Island (Koh Yung). South of Phi Phi Leh, the tiny Bida Nok and Bida Nai are some of the best dive sites in the area.
Visiting the uninhabited islands
You can only reach Phi Phi Leh, Bamboo and Mosquito by boat, on a tour or a privately hired longtail. All of them lie inside the national park, so the national park fee applies (400 THB for foreign adults, 200 THB for children). Keep your ticket: it is checked at the different park sites on the same day.
